…it’s officially here, and the stoke is REAL 😍

Our new site is live 🎉
https://madeinthemountainsphoto.com/

Last fall, I reached out to after literally oohing and ahhh-ing over their work since 2020/2021. I’ve been FB friends with Tessa, the head of the team, for just as long, just creepin’ on her incredible work.

I’ve been DIY’ing my website since we started at the end of 2018. Last year, it finally felt right to hand that part of my business over to someone else for a refresh. I’ve dreamed of having a brand that cuts through the noise and gets straight to the heart of what I’m passionate about as an elopement photographer in the Alps. I wanted that reflected in every detail of this biz Scott and I have built.

I love seeing our new site, branding, and copy, and feeling myself and the things I love most reflected in it. 🥰

From hand-drawn illustrations of Edelweiss and Ibex, a custom logo that is an outline of my ‘’home mountain range’’ to even incorporating in Strava stats (the only ‘’social media’’ you’ll find me on daily 😂) to copy that fully reflects my love for what I do and the places we get to work in….seeing all of this come together makes my heart feel full.

I can’t thank the team over at Bella Maven enough.

💛 Tessa’s incredible organization, patience, and vision (I had a tall order to fill)
💛 Laura’s stunning design, custom illustrations, and branding - how she figured out how to combine my loose ideas and all the things I love into something cohesive is beyond me
💛 Mackenzie’s fabulous copy and ability to take dozens of pages of answers to questions and write a site that flowed beautifully and speaks to the heart of what I do as an elopement photographer in the Alps
💛 Pratik’s superb development skills. He brought it all together, no small feat to say the least.

If you want to go check things out (or get in touch about your elopement!) you can hit the link in caption. I’m so excited to share it with y’all ✨

The day I got to photograph my best friend’s elopement in the Austrian Alps 🌈

‘’E’’ is my most long-standing best friend (we met in college and she's one of those people who changed my life for the better). When we met back then, little did I know how our lives would play out….but getting to photograph her elopement with her partner, ‘’M’’ in the Alps was one of those full-circle moments I don't really have words for.

‘’E’’ was there long before any of this was a business. We were driving around in her Subaru, photographing stars at night with a little tripod and a self-timer. She'd drop everything when I had a wild idea about a random trail or skip class to drive six hours to hot springs on a Tuesday(😅). The time we spent outside together is a big part of what kept me sane back then, and it bonded us in a way that only the outdoors really can.

‘’E’’ stood by me as my maid of honor eight years ago. So when she told me she wanted to elope - I knew what needed to happen ✨

The morning of E+M’s day started pouring rain (classic Alps, honestly), and it was still sprinkling through their first look. But E+M just completely owned it. No stressing about the weather, or if things were perfect. Just the two of them, fully present, fully themselves, relishing every single moment together and laughing so so much. My cheeks hurt from smiling.

The way these two were with each other all day, trading stories on the trail, soaking up every view, not caring about anything except being together in this place, that's what it's all about.

Something E and I used to do when we were out west together was look at the mountains and just shed a few tears because of how beautiful they were. Getting to share that again, here in the Alps, in some of my favorite places in the world, with her and M on their wedding day - that’s something I’ll always cherish.

We want to be really clear about something. 🌈

Made in the Mountains is a space for every couple who wants to celebrate their love in the Alps. Every background. Every body. Every identity. Every love story.

The outdoors have always been a place of peace for us. Of healing. Of feeling completely and fully like yourself, away from noise and expectations and the weight of other people's opinions.
That feeling is one everyone deserves to experience.

We work with couples of all shapes, sizes, genders, and sexualities, and we always will. You should never have to wonder whether you are welcome here. You are - completely and without reservation. 💛

The mountains don’t care who you love (and neither do we). We just care that you get to celebrate it somewhere that takes your breath away and allows you to truly connect.

Two years in a row and it still feels a little surreal 🥰

I am excited to share that one of my images was selected as a winner in Junebug’s Best of the Best Destination Wedding Photos contest again this year (alongside 49 other incredibly talented photographers from around the world), and this one feels particularly meaningful to me.

The location in this image from T+J’s elopement is somewhere I had been dreaming about for years. I came across it the way I find most of our spots, poking around topo maps late at night, thinking about where I want to explore (or eventually photograph an elopement). I’ve pitched this spot to couples since 2021, so when it finally happened last year…that felt really special. Actually, T+J picked two areas that have been on my wishlist for years 🌈

Something I love is being able to share with couples places that they haven’t seen, constantly popping up online. There are so many extraordinary, less-traveled places in the Alps & Dolomites that never make it onto any list, and winning with an image from a place like that makes my heart especially happy.

I’m grateful for the trust T+J put in us throughout the process. Because what this winning image doesn’t show is all the planning that took place, and even the pivoting and tweaking plans between rain and thunderstorms the first day of their elopement. All the little moving parts.

I also want to say what I said last year, having submitted countless images I am equally proud of but haven’t won any contests: These awards are entirely subjective. Not winning doesn’t mean your work isn’t something special. I’ve had to learn that over years of submitting and hearing nothing. While recognition can feel good, my worth (and yours) isn’t dictated by awards. I don’t think I fully understood that until I won last year. It turns out, imposter syndrome can feel real no matter how long you’ve been doing this.

Thank you to and to every couple who trusts us with their most magical days out here ✨ And again, a huge round of congrats to all of the other winners this year. 👏

Most of our couples say the same thing after their elopement in the Alps.

“I was completely present, and everything melted away during the ceremony.”

Your day isn’t about managing other people’s time or expectations. It’s about you having a present, connected experience in the mountains with the people closest to you.

Your elopement day won’t feel like a wedding, because it’s stress-free and actually filled with the things that matter to you.

If you’re still in the “I want this, but I don’t know how to make it real” phase, the free planning guide in our bio is where to start. We’ve walked countless couples from that exact feeling to standing on a summit exchanging vows.

Every single decision I have made in the last 15 years traces back to one photo on Google ⬇

I was 15 years old, sitting in my parents’ house in the flatlands of Indiana, when I saw a photo of Grindelwald, Switzerland on the computer screen.

My tiny brain completely exploded.
I had no idea places like that could exist. And I knew, immediately, that I needed to make that part of my life somehow.

What followed was a pretty wild series of decisions.

A foreign exchange summer in Germany. A trail construction job in Glacier National Park (because it seemed like the closest thing I could find in America to the Alps). An Au Pair stint in the German Alps, where I spent every single weekend out hiking and completely fell in love with the area.

Then I met Scott while we were working in Alaska. And I told him we needed to get back out to Europe.

An old connection from my Au Pair days came through with jobs for both of us. We dropped everything (including college), moved to Germany, and landed in Garmisch-Partenkirchen - this town I had kept coming back to years previously, and could never get enough of.

That was supposed to be a 15-month contract.

Six years later, we still live here. We are working toward dual citizenship so we can stay permanently. And we run a photo and video business documenting elopements in the mountains I have loved since I first saw them on Google as a teenager.

It’s honestly wild to think about.

Every single thing that has happened in the last 15 years traces back to one photo on a screen in Indiana.

We wake up every day in a place that still does not feel entirely real. And we get to spend our working hours helping couples have their most magical days in the mountains we call home.

We are so grateful for that. And for every couple who trusts us to make it happen. 🥰✨

Nobody actually asks the question they're really wondering about when planning their elopement in the Alps. 🤫

Everyone wants to know about the weather. Whether we have a backup plan. What happens if it rains.

Sure, these are all valid questions.
But the one that's quietly underneath all of it?

Will I actually be able to feel this? 🏔

Not ‘’will the photos and video be stunning’’. Not ‘’will the location be breathtaking’’. Those things, when you've done the work to get here, tend to take care of themselves.

The real thing couples are wondering is whether they will be fully immersed in the moment. Or whether the day will pass in a blur of logistics and stress, and performing the version of happiness the day is supposed to produce.

We don't talk about this enough in the wedding world. It's harder to put in a package description than timelines and sunset portraits portraits. But honestly? It's the thing that determines whether your wedding day becomes a grounding experience that helps anchor your relationship, or just a pretty day where you’re dressed up.

Everything we do - from the planning calls, to building your timeline, to how we move through the day together is to help you have time to feel present. Not just going through the motions.
Actually there. Soaking it in. Completely connected to each other and the place around you.

You can check out our free planning resources via the link in our bio. It’s a good place to start figuring out what your day could look like. 💍

Somewhere between "yes, let's do it" and "okay but HOW" , most couples get stuck planning their elopement in the Alps or Dolomites. Here's why + how to change that ➡

We've noticed something about our reviews. 👇

Couples almost never lead with the photos when talking about their elopement in the Alps.

They talk about how the planning felt. How the day felt. How it felt to have someone in their corner who actually knew the mountains, understood how vendors work out here, and knew what questions to ask.

Then, usually a few sentences in, they mention the photos. Always something like "and oh, the photos are stunning." But that part comes second. Every single time.

M+H put it this way: "Christine does so much more than photography. She is a planner, a problem-solver, and a huge support system."

E said: "She is so much more than a photographer. We felt like we had known her for years."

We didn't coach anyone to say that. It just keeps coming up because it keeps being true.

If you're looking for someone to show up on the day and take beautiful photos, there are plenty of photographers who do exactly that.

But if you want someone who helps build the whole thing and then documents it like it deserves, that's what we do. You can get in touch by filling out the contact form via the link in our bio any time ✨

What actually happens between “we want to elope in the Alps” and standing on a mountain saying your vows?

A lot, honestly. And most of it has nothing to do with cameras.

It starts with a conversation where we figure out who you actually are and what you actually want. Not what looks good on Instagram. Not what everyone else is doing. What would make this day feel completely, unmistakably like you two.

Then comes a detailed questionnaire that helps you get specific about things you haven’t thought through yet. Planning calls at key points in the process. A location guide built around your vision, your pace, and the kind of terrain you’re stoked about. An English-speaking vendor guide curated from six years of working and living in the Alps.

And on the day itself, you can trust us to navigate all the in betweens. Whether it’s re-sewing on a button or replanning the timeline due to weather, we are ready to jump in and make it happen.

Our cameras are the last part of the equation. Everything before it is what makes the photos come together 🌈
