She went to Ireland for a friend’s wedding… and came back to Abu Dhabi with her future husband 🇮🇪🤍

They were married here in Abu Dhabi, and her students (who absolutely adore her) surprised them with this beach photoshoot as a wedding gift.

We met at sunset. Salt in the air. Golden light. Endless laughter.
The way he looks at her. The way she leans into him.
Just steady, grateful joy.

Now that the weather’s cooling down, we’re back out in the desert! ☀️

Desert photo season is here! 🐪✨

One thing I never expected when I started shooting in the UAE was that I’d have to check the weather forecast before a session, after all, it never rains here! But it turns out there’s one thing that can make or break a desert shoot … the wind!💨

A gentle breeze can look beautiful in photos, but when it picks up, it can quickly turn into flying hair, squinty eyes, and sand everywhere.

Here’s my quick guide to help you know what to expect:
 🌤 0–15 km/h (0–9 mph): Perfect. Hardly noticeable and gives a soft, natural movement to hair and clothes. 🍃 16–25 km/h (10–15 mph): Still good. You’ll notice it, especially in open dunes, but it often adds to that candid, windswept look. 🌬 26–35 km/h (16–21 mph): Getting tricky. Sand starts to lift, which can sting eyes and skin — not ideal for little ones. 💨 36+ km/h (22+ mph): Too windy. Constant blowing sand and tired faces, best to reschedule if you can.

It’s such a beautiful time to get out into the dunes and update your family photos while the weather’s perfect. 🤍

👋 Hi, I’m Michelle — the face (and camera 📸) behind Michelle Shrives Photography … and this handsome ball of fluff is Duke, my barnacle 🐾. 
I’ll be honest — I’m not great at showing my face here, and I definitely don’t post as often as I should 🙈. But since I spend so much time encouraging mums to step in front of the camera, I figured I’d better practice what I preach. 
When I’m not photographing families, you’ll find me running around after my two boys, sneaking in a coffee, or planning my next getaway!   I’m naturally much more comfortable behind the lens than in front of it, but I’ve learned how important it is to exist in photos, and that’s exactly why I do what I do. 
I love capturing those everyday, messy, beautiful connections that show families, especially mums, just how loved and valued they really are 💕. 
And as for Duke? He’s convinced he’s the real boss around here … and honestly, my husband will tell you he’s right. 🐶✨

There’s something magical about these back beach walks on the Mornington Peninsula; wild winter waves and two sandy, windswept boys always up for an adventure. 
It’s cold, it’s salty, the boys are chaotic... and it’s everything I need right now!
   
We began our path in photography with where we continue to learn and grow in the positive, nurturing and uplifting space that is the CLG community of women.

Today we are coming together to share our images for the monthly creative challenge.
