When it comes down to it, I’ll always choose an f2.8 aperture lens. That’s what really makes those sports images stand out , is the depth of field. And don’t even try saying “but Jamey, I can’t afford an f2.8 lens!!!” Look at the use lens market. Most of the lenses and cameras I’ve bought over my career were used. If the glass is in good condition, the outside of it doesn’t matter so much.

And you all thought I just do racing photography.....Last week I spent 5 amazing days on the Missouri River in Montana, the Henry's Fork in Idaho and the Snake River in Wyoming, fly fishing and also creating content for Living Waters Guide Service. The trout were HUGE. The views were epic. So many laughs and lots of memories made with my buddy JP Grice. Big thanks to Moterra Campervans for hooking us up with a sweet ride to live and work from for the week too!

Being a professional racing photographer is a GREAT job. I love it. But it definitely is not one of those jobs that comes with a stable income. I’ve worked hard to build a brand and a business. But even still, some months I make a great income. Other months, there is no racing work for me to cover. So I also do other types of photography to fill those gaps during the slow season.
