When it comes down to it, I’ll always choose an f2.8 aperture lens. That’s what really makes those sports images stand out , is the depth of field. And don’t even try saying “but Jamey, I can’t afford an f2.8 lens!!!” Look at the use lens market. Most of the lenses and cameras I’ve bought over my career were used. If the glass is in good condition, the outside of it doesn’t matter so much.
