Large flights of doves would come to the water hole, and the heat made them sluggish, making them easy targets for jackals and baboons. The jackals would arrive early in the morning, just before the sun was fully up, which made it tricky to capture the action of them catching their prey. They didn’t stay long while I was there, as the larger animals drove them off. Hopefully, next time I can photograph more in brighter conditions. 📸

As someone who loves both bird and mammal photography, I often find myself torn between the two. On this occasion, I had an oxpecker on one side and a warthog on the other. Initially, I focused on the oxpecker, as I do tend to lean towards birds a little more. But when it flew over to the warthog, I was very thankful as I ended up with the best of both worlds!

At Shompole it was my first time trying night photography, and I absolutely loved it. The jackals were frequently spotted, but they were quite skittish, so we had to be very silent to avoid scaring them away. There were adjustable lights on either side of the watering hole to control the brightness, which was really helpful. We took turns sleeping while one of us stayed up to watch for animals. The experience was incredible, and I highly recommend Shompole hide to any wildlife photography enthusiast.

Photographing elephants in black and white has always been a favorite! 😍 Their distinctive features like their wrinkled skin, stand out due to the contrast created. Additionally, the grayscale tones can highlight the depth and detail of their unique characteristics, making them particularly captivating subjects in monochrome imagery.

Elephant Hills Golf Course is truly unique with all the wildlife around. It's just like a walk in the park, with an abundance of bird life to capture, and a variety of mammals.

This large Antelope is known as a waterbuck. They are commonly found near permanent water sources such as swamps, rivers, etc. Their shaggy, oily coats, help repel water and keep the animal dry.
