The BDC Tower is arguably one of the most photogenic buildings in Gaborone, easily recognizable by its distinct triangular glass-and-steel exoskeleton. From the day I first saw it I knew it would end up in my cityscape collection.

On the day this photo was taken, Gaborone had just witnessed the fury of a heavy hailstorm, leaving behind a trail of destruction and the most glorious blood-orange sunset I have ever seen. By the time I arrived on location, the sun had slipped beneath the horizon, and it was well into blue hour. Unwilling to leave empty-handed, I had to quickly recalibrate and make the most of the situation.

What I love most about this image is that, while it is dark enough for light trails, you can still see faint warm sunset glow on the building, providing a lively juxtaposition between the warmth of the sunset and impending cold winter night. The dynamic light trails from passing vehicles going in and out of the precinct carve a path through the image to create some excellent leading lines while elegantly framing the subject.

Overall, even though it is not the image I intended to shoot, I am pleasantly satisfied with the outcome. A great lesson on what one can achieve if one decides to push on despite changes in circumstances.

Nyangombe Falls is Nyanga's hidden gem. It is one of the few waterfalls where you can actually get to touch the rushing waters. Enjoy the spray of the cool eastern highlands they meander down the Nyangombe River in the pristine Zimparks .

There are two locations, in my knowlegde, where one can view Harare's skyline and for the longest time I have been meaning to do a such a shot. However, most of the time I always give the excuse that "right now I'm too busy" or "I will come back when the light is right." For any of you that are into photography, you would know that it is a cardinal sin to go clicking away that shutter button in broad daylight. Besides, I REALLY was busy. I drove past this location on my way from shooting an interview, the last piece of the puzzle of a ducomentary which I'm producing. I was in a mad rush to get to the office an finish cuting my video. Suddenly I recalled something that I had heard on FStoppers, one of my favourite YouTube channels. "Don't always wait for the perfect light. Challenge yourself and shoot in less than ideal conditions and you may be amazed at what you can come up with," they said. So....I did.

What strikes me about this image is the foreground of a vast natural grassland with the backdrop of towering concrete structures. As if to imply that the two are fighting for dominance.

THE TECHXPLANATION
I shot a series of 5 vertical shots and stiched them together in Photoshop. Color corrected the panorama in Lightroom then took it back to Photoshop for final retouching. You can see the entire edit on www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3PJeWxzFGk

Canon 77D, 55mm, f8, ISO200 behind an ND filter.
