Art education is often where the journey starts, but it is rarely where careers are built.
Navigating the Path: Art Education in Africa looks at what happens after learning, and where the gaps begin to show. Across many contexts, creatives leave formal or informal education with skill, but without clear pathways into visibility, income, or sustained practice.
This white paper focuses on those transition points. It looks at the space between education and practice, and the role that access, networks, and real opportunities play in shaping whether creatives are able to move forward.
It also reflects on the role of informal platforms, community-led initiatives, and peer networks in filling these gaps, especially in contexts where institutional support is limited or uneven.
For us, this is part of a wider conversation about building a creative ecosystem that supports not just learning, but progression.
If you are working in arts education, cultural programming, or creative development, this is a useful place to start.
