Here are 6 things for a bride to keep in mind during the getting ready shoot so the photos feel natural and beautiful:
*1. Light matters more than clutter
Clear a spot by the window. Natural light makes skin glow and details pop. Move big suitcases, extra bags, and hotel clutter out of the frame if you can.
*2. Put your phone on silent and out of sight
Phones, chargers, and drinks on the dresser pull attention. Tuck them away. You’ll look more relaxed and the room will feel calmer.
*3. Slow down the small moments
Buttoning the dress, clasping a necklace, reading a letter. These move fast but photograph best when you pause for 3 seconds. Don’t rush.
*4. Have 2–3 people in the room max
A packed room creates chaos and nerves. Keep it to your closest people. You’ll laugh more and look more at ease.
*5. Think about your hands and posture
Soft hands, relaxed shoulders. When you’re doing makeup or holding the bouquet, keep fingers loose. Stiff hands make the photo feel tense.
*6. Bring the details you want photographed
Dress, shoes, jewelry, invitation suite, perfume, heirloom. Hand them to your photographer when you arrive. That way nothing gets missed in the rush.
The goal is to feel present, not posed. If you’re laughing with your mom or having a quiet moment alone, that’s the shot.
