Lusaka 23rd December,2025 – The University Teaching Hospitals' (UTH) Adult Hospital has noted the circulation of information on some social media platforms concerning an individual identified as Mr. Charles Phiri, who is alleged to be admitted at the hospital, with requests for members of the public to assist in tracing relatives.
UTH wishes to clarify that this matter has not been formally brought to the attention of hospital management and that the information currently circulating on social media is unverified. The hospital emphasizes that it has established internal procedures for managing cases involving unidentified or unaccompanied patients, including the lawful tracing of relatives through appropriate institutional channels. These processes are undertaken while strictly upholding patient confidentiality, consent, and ethical standards.
UTH therefore strongly advises members of the public, administrators of social media platforms, and content creators to refrain from publishing or circulating images or personal details of patients without formal authorization from the hospital.
Any information that may assist in identifying or locating relatives of a patient believed to be admitted at UTH should be communicated directly to the Hospital Administration or the Public Relations Unit for verification and appropriate action.
