Every day begins with a choice. You can ignore yesterday's neglect and hope it disappears or you can take small deliberate steps that create a healthier tomorrow. A toothbrush does not judge where your teeth have been. It simply offers another opportunity to care for them.
The same principle can apply to relationships. Not every broken relationship is meant to end. Some have simply suffered from neglect, misunderstanding, poor communication or the pressures of life. One good time to repair a relationship is when both people are taking responsibility instead of assigning blame. Both should be willing to listen and forgive. In addition, they should change unhealthy patterns and rebuild trust consistently and not merely through words but through actions. The relationship deserves another chance.
If a dentist restores a damaged tooth when enough healthy structure remains, what should prevent you from restoring your relationship?
Truth be told, not every relationship should be repaired. Some continue to bring dishonesty and manipulation. Others are marked by abuse, repeated betrayal or a complete lack of respect. Repair requires cooperation. Umunwe umo tausala nda (one finger cannot pick lice). Therefore, one person cannot rebuild what the other is determined to destroy. In such situations, moving on is not an act of failure but an act of wisdom. Sometimes the healthiest future begins when you stop trying to revive what repeatedly harms your peace and invest your energy where growth is possible.
This is the reason, dentists do everything possible to preserve a natural tooth because nothing functions quite like the original. But when a tooth is so severely damaged that it can no longer be restored, keeping it may cause pain or infection. At that point, removing the diseased tooth and replacing it appropriately protects the health of the entire mouth.
This long weekend, you are invited to visit Northway Dental Clinic for your dental checkups. Certainly not for relationship advice. We look forward to seeing you.
