WHY YOUR WEDDING TIMELINE MATTERS — FROM BEHIND THE CAMERA
As wedding photographers and videographers, we see wedding days from a slightly different perspective.
We don't just see the beautiful moments. We see everything happening between those moments.
And one thing we've learned over the years is that a good wedding timeline can make a massive difference to your photos and film.
When a wedding runs behind, the first thing that usually gets squeezed is photo time.
Family photos become rushed.
Couple portraits get shorter.
There’s less time to capture the little details.
And those beautiful natural moments between events become harder to capture.
We've had days where the timeline is running 30–45 minutes behind, and suddenly we're trying to fit everything into a fraction of the time we originally planned.
That's when photography and videography can become less about capturing the day naturally and more about trying to keep up with the schedule.
But when a timeline is planned properly and everyone sticks to it?
It's a completely different experience.
We have time to capture the details.
We can take our time with your couple portraits instead of rushing through them.
We can position ourselves properly for the important moments.
We can capture the laughs, the nervous moments, the hugs, the reactions and all those little things that happen naturally throughout the day.
And most importantly — you aren't constantly looking at the clock.
From our side of the camera, here's what we recommend:
• Don't make your timeline too tight.
• Give yourself extra time for getting ready.
• Allow enough time for family and couple photos.
• Remember that moving 100 people from one location to another takes time.
• Build in a little breathing room for unexpected delays.
• Tell your photographer and videographer about any special moments you absolutely want captured.
• And once the day starts, try your best to stick to the timeline.
Your timeline doesn't have to be perfect.
It just needs to give your wedding day enough breathing room.
Because from behind our cameras, we know that the best photographs and films aren't always the moments that were scheduled.
Sometimes they're the moments that happen because you had enough time to stop, breathe and enjoy them.
Plan the timeline. Trust the process. Then forget about the clock and enjoy your wedding day.
