She was in the middle of teaching her cub to hunt.
Then the impala spotted them. A hyena moved in. She fought it off - but in the chaos, the cub vanished.
For almost half an hour she searched the bush, calling. That low, rasping call leopards make when they’re not trying to hide, just trying to find the one thing that matters.
We found the cub first. Tucked into a tree, watching.
Eventually the cub climbed down and found her mother in another tree. Reunited.
