It's a new year. Man, last year was bonkers. I took some photos last year that I'm really, really proud of. I took my favourite photos last year actually.

Something I'll never get sick of is catching moments like these - such high emotion. Photos like this give me such a visceral experience when looking at them. I'm stoked to have made as many photos like this as I did last year. Here's to more this year!

Man, September was absolutely crazy. I photographed 7 weddings, all around the country. Cape Town, Midlands, Bloem, Joburg, and PTA of course. I also taught a full blown 2 day wedding workshop in KZN.

This image is from one of the weddings I shot last month. Joanne and Andrew blew my mind at their wedding. Their speeches had me in tears. The way he's looking at her in this image epitomises the connection between them.

I get asked pretty often if I still enjoy shooting weddings, after I've done over 230 of them, and images like this are what keep me so in love with what I do.

Belinda was stoked to marry Eman. I remember the energy she had on the day, and it even translated to some really emotional moments.

Also, I had a revelation a few weeks ago. The first few times I shot weddings, I would notice moments like this but not be prepared for them, so I'd miss them all the time. Over the years, I've learned exactly where the real emotions are at weddings, and that's actually allowed me to anticipated moments like this, and be ready for them before they even happen. I'm more grateful today than ever that I've shot as many weddings as I have, because it's allowed me to be a step ahead of a few of the things that happen at weddings.

I managed to snag a photo of one of the guests at this wedding while she was crying.

One of the things I aim for at every single wedding is shots like this one. It's not uncommon for weddings to be emotional events, and those emotions are a big part of the day, because that's where you really see what's important to some of the guests. This particular wedding was especially emotional, and all I wanted on the day was to put that emotion into my photos.
