Throwback design - Hand-painted menus for Decameron Restaurant in Stellenbosch, 1990 (if I remember correctly, it was so long ago) - before the era of computers and its influences. A time when designers could immerse themselves in the textures and scents of various papers and paints/inks, their minds brimming with limitless possibilities, and their talents unleashed to bring visions to life. May I never lose that sense of magic and wonder in my designs and design style.

Originally, I hand-painted all the menus and wine lists, but in later years, they transitioned to printed versions.

If you ever visit Decameron Restaurant in Stellenbosch, you’ll notice the original hand-painted menus framed near the reception area. I proudly own one of these original menus, which holds a special place in my portfolio collection. - Khaki Camara

Women often play the role of facilitators in meetings, focusing on harmony and consensus. While valuable, this can reinforce the stereotype of women as supporters rather than leaders. To challenge this, women should assert their beliefs and ideas confidently. Here’s how:

Prepare and Own Your Expertise: Be thoroughly prepared and confident in your knowledge. Let your expertise shine in your contributions.

Set Clear Intentions: Enter meetings with clear goals, whether it's presenting a new idea, challenging an existing one, or influencing a decision.

KANTAdesign Creative Studio, established by Khaki Camara in 2004 as a freelance venture, transitioned into a full-time business in 2015. Khaki, a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience, excels in graphic design (yes, she studied graphic design and photography before the era of computers), brand management, content creation, artistry, writing, and photography, making her a versatile and seasoned artist in the industry.

Khaki is the owner and co-founder of The Salt And Pepper Touch. (TSAPT).

The Salt And Pepper Touch was founded by Khaki and Merlize du Toit, a graphic designer, and a makeup artist. These two creatives decided to merge their skills to assist women in business to enhance and elevate their business and personal brands. Since Merlize resigned from TSAPT, she will always remain a co-founder.

A new season opened for TSAPT -

She was ready to vibrate higher and become a magnet to miracles.

Now she is in this place where everything feels right. Her heart is calm. Her soul is lit. Her vision is clear. She’s at peace with where she’s been. And at peace with where she’s headed. She is salt. She is pepper. She is me. SHE IS YOU.
