Dear Mamma...
On nights when the world feels too heavy to bear,
And silent tears soak through my tangled hair,
You sit by my side, a steady flame,
Whispering gently, calling me by name.
Your arms - my shelter from every storm,
Always forgiving, forever warm.
No matter how far I roam or fall,
Your hug remains my safest call.
We’ve had talks that run deep like rivers wide,
Where truths and dreams refuse to hide.
Your voice, a map in my confusion,
Guiding me back from life's illusion.
You’ve been my teacher, my mirror, my friend,
Helping my broken bits to mend.
In your eyes, I see who I might be -
A softer, braver, fuller me.
Yet, we’ve clashed, like sun and stormy skies,
With stubborn hearts and tear-filled eyes.
But even when our hearts were sore,
I never doubted your love at the core.
You showed me strength laced with grace,
How to walk through fire with a steady face.
From you I learned to hope, to try -
To laugh, to question, to reach the sky.
And Mamma, as the seasons change their hue,
So has the bond between me and you.
From tiny infant to testing toddler, I’ve come to see
The deep, fierce love you’ve poured into me.
So here’s my thanks, wrapped in rhyme -
For every moment, every time.
You are the root that holds me true,
Dear Mamma - my first home, my everything... it's you.
Number 6:24-26.
