1. Tallest on the island – It drops nearly 100 meters, making it the highest waterfall in Mauritius.

2. Built by volcanoes – The cliff is made of layered basalt from ancient lava flows, showing the island’s volcanic origins.

3. Changes shape – Depending on rainfall, it splits into two or even three streams, giving it that iconic twin-fall look.

4. Fed by the highlands – Water flows from rivers on the central plateau, especially the St. Denis River system.

5. Surrounded by rare forest – It sits within the lush ecosystem of Black River Gorges National Park, home to some of the island’s last native forests.
