Nobody tells you that working in events means becoming 10 different people in one day. 😂
9:00 AM — Project Manager 📋
10:00 AM — Therapist listening to everyone's problems 🧠
11:00 AM — Detective trying to find out who moved the equipment 🕵️
12:00 PM — Negotiator convincing the client that this was definitely not part of the original plan 🤝
2:00 PM — Firefighter dealing with three emergencies at the same time 🔥
4:00 PM — Technician because suddenly everyone's asking you about cables and power ⚡
6:00 PM — Customer Service because someone is unhappy about something 😅
8:00 PM — Magician because somehow the problem needs to disappear before the client sees it 🎩✨
And then someone asks:
“So… what exactly do you do in events?”
Honestly?
I still don't know how to explain it properly. 😂
But if you've worked on a live event, you understand.
We don't just manage events.
We manage people, problems, timelines, budgets, expectations, equipment, last-minute changes and occasionally... complete chaos.
And somehow, when the doors open and everything comes together...
You forget the madness and start thinking about the next event. 🎪

There’s something incredibly rewarding about standing in a finished room before an event begins.
A short while earlier, it may have been completely empty. Then the planning, setup, cabling, lighting, sound, testing, and teamwork all come together — and suddenly the space has purpose.
And then comes the best part: people arrive, take their seats, the microphone is tested, and the room becomes alive with energy and connection.
These are the moments that remind us why we do what we do. We don’t just set up equipment, we help create environments where experiences can happen.
Creating experiences is what we are here for.

Collaboration is at the heart of creativity. No project or concept comes to life in isolation; each one is shaped by the people we meet, the ideas we share, and the inspiration we draw from those around us.
In the spirit of Women’s Month, many discussions focused on women in business and female-centred perspectives take place across our community.
The Seat at the Table campaign uses a physical and symbolic “seat” as an interactive way to share the stories of 10 trailblazing South African women from history and fields such as education, art, and activism.
Inspired in part by the legacy of the late Gill Gray, the initiative encourages women today not to wait for a seat, but to claim one at any table.
DPK’s and hit the road to collaborate with and on this inspiring project, celebrating the role of women in daily life, business, and design.

Technology is changing quickly, and for many businesses, adapting to new systems and tools can feel overwhelming. We understand that progress can be challenging, but we also believe that the right planning makes all the difference.
Recently, we had the privilege of assisting with an AI training project. From the start, the client’s needs and expectations were clearly communicated, including training times, presenters, platforms, topics, and overall goals. Because everyone was aligned and working together, we were able to deliver successfully and create real value.
It reminded us of something important: knowledge is power, but when schedules get busy and communication breaks down, that power can easily be lost. When that happens, we can either point fingers, or we can choose understanding, teamwork, and collaboration.
Failing to plan leads to plans failing. The choice is in our hands.

Women’s Month is officially here, and we’re excited to be part of several Women’s Day events and projects this year.
This past week, we put our tech team to the test at the Women in Finance Network Conference 2026. Hosted by the Women in Finance Network, the event brought together women making their mark in the previously male-dominated finance industry.
The theme of this year’s conference focused on AI and how to remain “relevant, resilient and irreplaceably human” in the ever-changing world of technology and finance. We were proud to play our part behind the scenes, helping bring this important event to life through our media and live-streaming work.
