It’s amazing to realize that there are Towers of people walking amongst us in Soweto.

As I captured this portrait of one of the founders of the Soweto Marathon Nthate Thulani Sibisi walking beside his daughter, with the iconic Soweto Towers standing proudly in the background, I felt something.

This became one of my favorite photographs from that day, not only because of the composition, but because of what it represents: strength, sacrifice, legacy, and the quiet beauty of passing the torch to the next generation.
The towers stood tall behind them, but in that moment, I realized the real towers were walking right in front of my lens.
