Lady and Co Studios A photographic studio and creative workshop space, owned by Claudia Schneider, an analog photographer in Somerset West.

Focusing on photoshoots, film processing and scanning, hand printing, creative workshops and collaborations with artists.

This was me in 2019 - I had been shooting film for 5 years consistently, no digital cameras!
Photographing models in a studio in Cape Town, little did I know what was unfolding in the years to come.
I had my own darkroom at home, the size of a shoebox, but I made it work!
Fast forward to today, my darkroom is a beautiful space where so many different people have come and gone, I still have this Hasselblad, and added another one to the collection amongst other film cameras.

This was my first film camera, the start of it all, my love for medium format photography has just grown even deeper.

Through the ups and downs of being a creative, Lady and Co will celebrate being around for 5 years already!

A slow, creative weekend by the sea, bringing women together to learn, make, experiment and spend a little time away from the everyday.

FRIDAY · POLAROID EMULSION LIFT
Spend the evening learning the beautiful, unpredictable process of Polaroid emulsion lifting while sipping on w**e and eating pizza. You’ll create a collection of tactile, one-of-a-kind artworks to take home.

SATURDAY · CYANOTYPE
A full day exploring the magic of cyanotype — working with sunlight, found objects, photographs and Prussian blue to create your own handmade prints.

Come for one day or join us for both and make a weekend of it. No previous experience is needed and everything you need to create is included.

Spaces are intentionally limited so that the group stays small, relaxed and personal. Only a few seats remain!

There’s something so special about being photographed on film.

The pace is slower. There’s no rushing through a session or trying to create the perfect photograph. Instead, we make space for the real stuff — the quiet moments, the movement, the connection, the laughter, the little in-between moments that you’ll want to remember.

Afterwards, the film comes back to my darkroom, where every roll is carefully hand-developed before being scanned and brought back to life.

It’s an old-fashioned way of making photographs, but somehow it makes them feel even more alive.

When you book a film session, the experience doesn’t end when the camera is packed away. In many ways, that’s when the real work begins.

After each session, I take the film back to the darkroom where every roll is developed by hand. There are no previews, no instant results and no way of knowing exactly what was captured until the negatives emerge from the chemistry. It’s a slower process, but one that feels deeply connected to the photographs themselves.

This is a glimpse into what happens afterwards — the part most people never get to see. The darkroom has always felt like a place where moments are transformed into memories, and I love that I have teamed up with my favourite destination in Stellenbosch - San Gabriel Homestead San Gabriel Homestead to bring our film sessions to their guests, for an exclusive experience.

Slow, intentional and entirely analogue. Just the way I like it. 🖤
