KIND [kàynd] opening on 22nd of February 2026 at Franschhoek. This is my 11th Solo and I am showing 24 artworks created over a period of a year and 8 months, all on the topic of children.
It has been a topic which I have investigated and used so often in my art career, because my heart is so big for children. I have a huge amount of empathy for anything living that has not always the power or the guts to speak or fend for themselves.
So if you spell the word KIND , which is the Afrikaans word for child... in English the phonetic spelling becomes [kàynd] ... I believe if you are kind to any being, human or animal, they thrive and becomes the being they should be strong, happy and loved.
The 24 portraits I portray is all about that, how young and old seek that kindness to thrive, have fun and be the happy person they wish to be.... Elements of fun, but also nostalgia and a bit of melancholy are depicted througout these portraits ...
Large and smaller scale portraits all created in with the tactile medium charcoal, with some touches of soft pastel colour...
I hope to see you at the opening, everybody is welcome, also children 😁 If you can not make the opening, the artworks are all on show untill mid March 2026.
