This is what iv noticed amongst Cultures.

In some areas iv been to in rural KwaZulu (Msinga, eShowe) iv came across families which when you really sit down with them they disclose that they are not amaZulu. For generations they've spoken, act and practiced isiZulu culture, but they'll disclose they are Basotho. Some even have this information in the reciting of their clan names.

I also discovered similar information among some amaSwati in Eswatini. They do acknowledge that they are Basotho. The history and information is also found in their clan names and traditional poetry.

Now.......the very first-time i landed in Lesotho I was surprised to discover surnames which were not seSotho. When you sit down with the elders in deep rural lesotho, you then discover that they are Batswana, Bapedi amaXhosa. But everyone know them as Basotho, since they've lived there for many generations.

I then later remembered there was once a BIG WAR in South Africa called Difaqane/Mfecane.

The Mfecane (known as Difaqane in Sesotho) was a period of widespread warfare, state-building, and forced migrations in southern Africa during the early 19th century (roughly 1815–1840). It reshaped the region's demographics, laying the groundwork for powerful new kingdoms.

Tonight is a reminder that not all great achievements started from greener pastures.

Some started in rough grounds covered in dust and rocks.

A reminder that greener pastures are not found.......they are created.
