Growing up, we often attended occasions where one traditional meal was served — starters, main course and dessert, perhaps followed by a braai. In recent years, we've noticed something. Around the same time most restaurant kitchens are closing, a second feast begins preparations for private functions, carrying guests late into the night and into the early hours.

Is this widely accepted, or simply those who can do? Fascinating watching catering teams scramble to prepare an entirely new meal for the second time in one evening.
