There is no easy way to address this situation, but I believe everyone deserves the truth.
Over the past few weeks there have been Facebook posts, rumours, threats, and a lot of speculation. While many people have shared opinions, very few know exactly what happened. I would like to be completely transparent and take responsibility for my actions.
1. Sponsorship Issue
The event was supposed to receive a sponsorship of R100,000. Unfortunately, when it came time to honour that commitment, the sponsor could not be reached and the funds were never received. This created a major shortfall in the event finances.
2. My Mistake
Faced with pressure and uncertainty, I made a serious mistake. In an attempt to recover the missing R100,000 and ensure that the event obligations could be met, I used team entry fee funds to try and make up the shortfall through gambling.
This decision was entirely mine, and it failed. As a result, the entry fee funds were lost. I accept full responsibility for this.
3. Apology
To every player, team, supporter, and sponsor affected by this situation, I sincerely apologise.
I understand the disappointment, anger, and loss of trust this has caused. I have faced the consequences of my actions, including criticism from the community and being excluded from certain activities. While difficult, these are consequences I must accept.
Most importantly, I have learned a painful lesson from this experience.
4. Moving Forward
Rather than making excuses, I want to focus on finding a solution.
I would like to arrange a meeting with representatives from Big Kels, CueMasters, and any other affected parties to discuss a fair and realistic way forward. My goal is to work together to resolve this matter and begin rebuilding trust within the pool community.
Thank you to everyone who takes the time to hear the full story.
Regards,
Aden Joseph
