We endlessly yearn for two hours of gold...

Skies full of orange...

Savannahs full of yellow...

Two hours of saturated spledour.

Wishing.

One of the most beautiful lions in Pilanesberg National Park had us all in awe as he was searching for a lioness who had walked past the area earlier in the morning.

He eventually found her and consequently mated with her for the next 3 days.

We shared an incredibly special and sacred moment with a Brown Hyena in Pilanesberg National Park.
Incredible to witness his ritual of a**l pasting. A**l pasting is the deposition onto grass and twigs with two distinct, strong smelling substances produced in its a**l scent pouch. They do a**l pasting in the areas they spent the most time in and generally in the central part of their territories. However, when they do visit the boundaries of their territories, they increase the frequency of pasting.

Such fascinating animals!!

First thing in the morning, just as I entered Pilanesberg National Park.

The Eastern Pride 🦁🦁

We followed them for more than an hour and at most of it, we were on our own.

A healthy pride and with two tiny additions bobbing around next to mine, the future looks bright for this beautiful pride.

It's not Halloween yet, but my goodness, check out this scary looking female Kudu!

I have seen her on quite a few occasions but could never get a decent photo of her ears as she always looked away.

This week she was a lot closer and eventually looked our way.

Her ears looked very uncomfortable as she continuously tried to scratch it.

I would love to know what is causing this phenomenon if anyone has any knowledge around it :)

Is it just normal wear and tear or is it something else?

Winter is the best time to look for the GHOSTS of Pilanesberg, and we are getting some incredible sightings of them as they make their way through Sefara Drive, Thutlwa Drive, Tau Link and Korwe Link at the moment.

It's not often that we get them close to the road, so when we do, we spend some extra time with them and soak it in :)

We found this magnificent big male leopard on the H4-1 on a slow stroll down towards Lower Sabi and spent a good hour with him.

He scanned the area along the river for a meal and eventually settled for a duo of Bushbuck foraging close to the water's edge.

Just after we had lunch at Pilanesberg Centre and headed out to look for some more sightings, we found Motsamai the female leopard looking for her own meal. She found a small herd of impala on the corner of Kubu and Letsha Drive and quickly went into stalking mode. She got to within 5 meters but suddenly the wind switched and gave her position away.

Incredibly exciting!

We don't often see Honey Badgers while out on safari in Pilanesberg National Park, but when we do, it's always a very quick sighting.

Normally it's a quick dash across the road and you can absolutely forget about a photo.

Only on a handful of sightings did I have an opportunity to photograph one. And even then, you have to be extremely quick.

Recently, we were VERY lucky to find this big guy while he was digging for grubs quite close to the road.

He was quite relaxed and gave us some valuable time to get some decent photos.

This particular spot has been very productive with Honey Badgers for me, and it seems that they like to frequent this particular site to look for food.
