WRPC - West Rand Photographic Club

WRPC - West Rand Photographic Club The West Rand Photographic Club is affiliated to the PSSA (The Photographic Society of South Africa) Our History

The Florida Camera Club was formed in 1964.

Over the years numerous members have passed through their doors. Due to the high cost of photography, active membership declined and a need to attract young blood was determined. Profoto Camera Club was started in 2002 by Brett Skolmen as a natural addition to his photographic enterprise at Profoto Camera and Photo Centre in the Hillfox area. In that short space of time he attracted over 80 active

members to the club. Due to venue problems he had two options, namely disband the club or amalgamate with one of the existing clubs in the area. Negotiations were started between the two chairmen and members of both clubs unanimously decided to combine the two clubs for the promotion and enjoyment of photography. As a clean start was desired by both clubs, a new name was proposed and a new constitution adopted. The West Rand Photographic Club is therefore a young vibrant club, combining knowledge and expertise of the Florida Camera Club and the enthusiasm and keenness of the Profoto Camera Club.
