Do you know how to determine the gender of a Saddle-billed stork? The female has a yellow eye (iris). The male has dark brown eyes and two small, dangling yellow wattles at the base of its bill.

This should give you a good idea of how much rain Southern Africa had this past summer. The wild sage in the Okavango Delta made for stunning foreground framing.

Beautiful light on a beautiful lioness from a recent photo safari in the Okavango Delta, Botswana.

🧐I still don't know why Facebook changes my photos' exposure but it's all good in Lightroom and I'm definitely not going to change my exposure just to keep Facebook happy. Hopefully they fix whatever the cause is.

Being a photographer forces you to notice details. Firstly you're looking intently at your subject and then you're also probably spending more time there than others would. We noticed an island of vegetation moving. Which is not abnormal in a river current. Upon closer inspection, we noticed the crocodile πŸ˜„πŸŠ. Definitely one of my most unique images of a crocodile!

A bird taking off towards the camera is rare. The previous day, we had two African Fish eagles together in the same spot but they took off at an angle and slightly backward, which wasn't ideal. So we tried again when we saw this one from the boat the next day. We waited patiently until it eventually decided to fly. I often hear "but I have a photo of a fish eagle already". The question is - do you have THE photo of a fish eagle? Always try to improve on your existing image, no matter the species.

When life gives you lemons...
Or when safaris give you rain. This season has seen a massive amount of rain falling all over Southern Africa (and much later than usual). That means you have to go with it when on safari. We played around with different shutter speeds here - capturing the rain streaks, long and short, and fast shutters for freezing the droplets.
