Art 2 Motion

Art 2 Motion We specialise in the conservation documentation of original artworks through a digital platform. These works of art not only tell a story.

Art 2 Motion is a multi-operations business that promotes artworks as a narrative. They embrace the key principle of conservation documentation through a digital platform. Unlike many other photography businesses, Art 2 Motion not only produces a narrative across diverse cultures through short films, but also preserves artworks for future generations using colour-corrected digital photographs. In

addition to our academic training in Museum and Preservation Studies, we bring to bear over ten years’ art preservation experience. For us, photography represents an essential tool for the representation and preservation of original artworks. Film is a visual narrative for capturing universal cultural truths and awakens one’s imagination even as it evokes a target audience’s emotions. Our valued and distinguished clients include the Embassy of the United States of America (AIEP Art Program), UP Department of Architecture, UP Museums, Norval Foundation, Javett-Up, and Michael Javett Private Collection.

Closing a project that expanded over a few months with the University of Pretoria Museums: photographing and digitising the nationally declared Mapungubwe collection. As an external photography partner (Art2Motion), I built a consistent, conservation-aware workflow and captured a substantial set of high-resolution imagesβ€”another step toward preservation and access.

Deep thanks to Dr Sian Tiley-Nel for steady guidance, and appreciation to Steenkamp & Maurice Shirinda for their commitment at every session. Proud to have contributed alongside the UP team.

This black incurvate pot carries a layered storyβ€”first drawn in 1928 during Frobenius’s southern African expedition, later excavated in 1934 from Mapungubwe Hill.

Now part of South Africa’s Declared National Heritage Collection, it bridges archives across continents and time.

On May 30th, The MET officially unveiled the newly reimagined Michael C. Rockefeller Wingβ€”a powerful and intimate black-tie celebration of cultural legacy, global artistry, and creative exchange.

The evening shimmered with soul, elevated by the haunting beauty of a performance from Grammy Award-winning artist Lila Downs

Deep thanks to for the invitation and for curating a space where heritage, imagination, and diverse global voices could come together in thoughtful celebration.

I had the privilege of sharing the evening with brilliant creatives, heritage specialists, and changemakers - Dr. Jonathan Stanhope-Bell), Ankur Adam and Kevin Pemberton - each illuminating the evening in their unique way.

I'm proud to share that one of my photographs is now part of the permanent collection, a deeply humbling honour.

It’s been a little quiet on here… but for good reason. The past few weeks have taken me across continents and into contrasting spacesβ€”each deeply rooted in heritage and meaning.
From the buzz of New York City to the sacred stillness of Mapungubwe…
It’s been a whirlwind of two worlds, one purpose: preserving and celebrating heritage.
My journey began in NYC, where I had the honour of attending the reopening of the Rockefeller Wing at The METβ€”a surreal and humbling moment, as one of my photographs was commissioned for the exhibition.
Not long after, I found myself back on home soil, travelling to the Mapungubwe Heritage Site with a team of experts. Together, we documented artefacts and stories that reflect the rich cultural legacy of this land.
It’s been a lot of movement and very little social mediaβ€”but I’m back, and I have so much to share.
Stay tuned for posts, reflections, and behind-the-scenes moments coming your way soon.
Thanks for sticking around.

What an incredible moment β€” being invited by The MET in New York for the grand opening of the Michael C. Rockefeller Wing!

This historic moment celebrates the newly reimagined galleries dedicated to the Arts of Africa, the Ancient Americas, and Oceania β€” and I’m truly honored to be part of it.

There are a couple of special events taking place to mark this milestone and honor the diverse cultures represented in these remarkable collections.

The galleries officially open to the public on Saturday, May 30th β€” and trust me, you won’t want to miss it!

Should I say…
Hello, New York!

As an artist, the most powerful work often emerges from a place of vulnerability.
I’m excited to finally share some of the stories, thoughts, and emotions behind my latest collection: Fragments of the Self.

This body of work is an intimate expression of my journey through healing and self-discovery.

Click on the video to hear the main idea that shaped this series.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll share more about the β€œhow” and β€œwhy” behind each pieceβ€”the moments, the questions, the breakthroughs.

Everything will unfold here on this page, so follow along to be part of the conversation.

Behind the scenes
I recently enjoyed teaching a photography class to the Master’s students in the Tangible Heritage Conservation department at the University of Pretoria.

We explored how to capture artefacts in ways that honour their detail, texture, and history, preserving more than just objects but also the stories they carry.

It was such an inspiring day of knowledge-sharing, creativity, and community. Thanks for having me!

A lot of my work centres around the theme of identityβ€”the question we’ve all asked ourselves at some point in life: " Who am I?” Recently, I was privileged to give back a little and invest in a young girl’s dream.

This is Elri, an aspiring photographer. We first connected when her mom bought one of my artworks for her, and at the beginning of April, she visited my studio to learn some tips and tricks of the trade. What a blessing to be able to inspire, empower, and ignite the next generation of creatives. I hope that this opportunity has left her excited to start creating.

As an artist, it’s important to remember that your legacy lies not only in your art but also in the people you inspire along the way.
