This past weekend, I had the absolute honour of capturing one of the most magical moments between two incredible souls – Mackalan and Kim. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Avianto, this surprise engagement was nothing short of perfect!

Mackalan, with the help of his friends, planned a romantic picnic for Kim, complete with a beautiful setup and a sign that read "Will you marry me, Kim?" The moment was filled with so much emotion that Kim didn't even wait for the question – she said "yes" before Mackalan could ask!

It was a moment filled with laughter, tears, and so much joy! Every frame I captured reflected the deep love and connection these two share. Here's to a lifetime of love, adventure, and more surprise moments for Mackalan and Kim! 💕📸

UNSCRIPTED | At Mon Chéri, we love getting to know our engagement and wedding clients.

Having a sense of who the couple are and what makes them tick allows us to create and capture their uniqueness within these once-in-a-lifetime moments.

But then, in life, there are always those things that cannot be controlled and you just have to wing it as best you can.

Aldain reaching out to us to immortalise partner Nerissa’s surprise engagement was exactly such a moment.

FRENCH AFFAIR | Many women dream of being proposed to while enjoying a romantic overseas holiday.

Luckily, Aldain didn’t have to book flights to surprise Nerissa with all the enchantment and glamour of a French countryside proposal. Bell Amour , north-east of Pretoria, provided him with the breathtakingly beautiful chateau-style backdrop he was looking for.

Plus, the couple had Bell Amour to themselves and Aldain ensured that Mon Chéri was on hand to capture every second of their magical moment.

FROZEN IN TIME | Aldain recognised that asking Nerissa to marry him would be one of the most important moments in their journey as a couple.

He also knew that they would want to relive and cherish every second of this singular, unscripted occasion as well as share it with family and friends.

It is no easy thing for the photographer to get the timing just right if the whole affair is designed to be a surprise to arguably the most important subject in the photos.

Despite aging somewhat as the high stakes threatened to take their toll, Nadia Bezuidenhout of Mon Chéri Photography captured gorgeous images reflecting the emotions and magic of this once-in-a-lifetime event.

Relief for us, but we bet for the groom-to-be too!

SURPRISE! | We wonder how many brides out there have experienced (or endured?) a proposal and engagement shoot all in one fell swoop?

Well, that is how Nerissa's promised "lifestyle" photo shoot turned out. She had no idea that it was a ruse to get her to say "yes" at the magical Bell Amour wedding venue.

As far as hopeful groom-to-be Aldain was concerned, the plan had always been to corner Nerissa for that ultimate, life-changing question and present her with her dream engagement ring.

She wasn't in on it, but we were.
