Just a story of something that during the lockdown time. At that time many of us could not work, we had to make a plan. I started a scanning service where I scanned slides, negatives and old photos into digital format. As time went by I started to get requests for VHS to digital video conversions as well. At the time I could not do it but after some research, acquiring old VHS tape players and the software to do it, I was able to offer the service as well. Then I investigate the possibility to restore old photos as well. At first I saw it as a difficult process. After watching a number of videos and test drives I was able to offer the service.
What started out as a side hustle became part of the other photographic services I offer. I soon realised that there are so many of you in possession of old slides, negatives and old photos. The same goes for VHS tapes. I started to promote these services and I can say I brought lots of old memories back to life.
It is like people treasure their heritage and relive past family gatherings, holidays, growing up, the view their parents when they were young, to name a few.
Today I receive constant requests for the service. In electronic format the possibilities are endless, from sharing it with other family all over the world to making photo books. Upon receiving a request I explain the process, from delivery of the old material right up to the end result. I have a flexible pricing structure in place to cater for large volumes.
From what started as a side hustle for income to a full service, I realised how important old memories is for many. It is not a huge money spinner for me but it helps me a lot. I am glad that I can offer such a service to you!
