Rudi Hulshof's Classic Africa A collection of experiences from working in the Safari Lodge Industry, with an added sprinkling of Wildlife Photography! www.classicafrica.blogspot.com

What is Classic Africa -

For many years, Photography has been a medium through which I have expressed my love and absolute dedication to the perfection of God's Creation – The African Wilderness. The split second in which the shutter snaps open and shut, and the image is captured, simply does not reflect the complete experience! Ever wondered what life must really be like at the Safari Lodges fo

r those that live, work and breathe there? What and who allows the lodges to tick, and provide the guests with memories that last a lifetime? Be it the anticipation of the sightings, the early mornings, late nights around the Boma fire and the drama of seeing life starting and then tragically ending? The comedy of experiences, the adventure of mischievousness, the successes, failures, hardships and pleasures. Follow me as I share with you a collection of tales, behind the scenes occurrences, and reveal the life that I have been blessed to have lived in my Classic Africa!

She appears out of the shadows, and as stealthily as she presented herself, she again vanished into the dark of night, her time, her land.

As the sun dips below the horizon, painting the savanna in golden hues, the king surveys his kingdom. Majestic and untamed.
I have so many images to catch up on from the past few months here at .safari.lodge that the seasons and vegetation don’t accurately represent the current environment, which is bathed in emerald green after wonderful spring rainfall.

I am so impressed by the size of both young male coalitions I am getting to see and know better. When full maturity is reached, these massive lions will all be forced to recon with.

The young, but massive territorial Steendam male has truly made .safari.lodge his own.

This brute of a lion managed to catch his third in the past two weeks, two nights ago near the lodge’s staff village.

The dust kicked up by over 800 stampeding towards a water hole on an afternoon safari in early spring, made it almost surreal to see individuals emerging through the dust cloud every so often.
