WEDDING TREND: SMALLER GUEST LISTS
Formal and traditional wedding celebrations sometimes call for a lot of guests. There are uncles, aunts, long-lost friends and relatives, and more that want a front row seat to watch you say โI do.โ These days, couples are narrowing down the numbers to ensure they stay under budget and can give all their close family and friends an extraordinary experience.
Here are 10 ways to slice and dice:
1.Pay for your own wedding โ or at least the majority of it. That way you will have more say in who doesnโt make the final cut.
2. Only invite your nearest and dearest. Moms, dads, sisters, brothers, grandmas, grandpas and close friends make the list; acquaintances and distant relatives donโt. Let them down gently.
2. Donโt invite co-workers โ even if they invited you to their weddings.
3. Donโt invite people out of guilt.
4. Donโt invite children.
5. Serious boyfriends and girlfriends only invites.
6. Have a destination wedding. This is usually a surefire way to keep your guest list small โ unless you hang with a well-heeled bunch.
7. Elope. Make it just the two of you and maybe a couple of close friends or your parents.
8. Plan a post-wedding party so you can still celebrate with people who werenโt invited. This is a popular option for couples who go small.
9. Pick a small wedding venue. Size constraints can work wonders for a mounting guest list.
10. Smaller wedding more intimate time to spend with your guests.
