Not a fancy shot at all!

So I just quickly took this photo just on my phone while walking to the arena to watch the lessons. What I love about it, is it is a good example of how you can manipulate the background with the foreground with simple light, focus and angles.

The entire background is the parking lot, with 5 cars in it. My absolute photography pet peeve is cars, fences and power lines. I hate them with a passion! And because I refuse (I’m too dumb and impatient to learn how) to edit, these things ruins an amazing shot.

But! Doesn’t mean the shot doesn’t exist!

So I am a massive advocate for using native plants in photography rather than glorifying alien, especially invasive, species.

Now I have tried to ID this Poaceae (grass) for several days and I am mortified to learn that it is most likely Schizachyrium scoparium. Which is an ornamental grass (not invasive) from North America.

I am still really hoping I have incorrectly IDed and that it is a Andropogon spp. which would make sense considering some are ever green and it is alive during winter 🤣.

But in the events that I am a hypocrite, I apologise 😭.

I used to think I loved greens and blues. Then as I found a bit more of my “own style” I actually really didn’t like them 🤣. They either stand out too much and hide the subject matter or are too contrasted. I don’t know. I think I just prefer a sort of “natural monochromatic” feel if that makes any sense.

Although, still greens and blues I think this image captures that. The colours an are there but they don’t drown the subject out. Or fight for your attention.
