What you wear really does influencethe way your photographs feel.

Not because you need to look “perfect,” but because certain colours, textures and outfits photograph in a way that allows the connection between people to stand out more naturally.

When families feel comfortable and cohesive, the photos immediately feel softer, calmer and more timeless.

A few things I always recommend:

* avoid large logos or busy patterns
* choose tones that work together instead of matching exactly
* prioritise comfort, especially for children
* movement and texture photograph beautifully
* when in doubt, simpler is usually better

Most importantly though:
the best photographs have very little to do with perfect outfits and everything to do with how present you are with each other & how much you enjoy your photoshoot ❤️

I recently travelled to Graaff-Reinet to photograph Ciara’s matric farewell pre-shoot 🤍

I first met Ciara years ago, and getting to photograph her now - all grown up into the sweetest young lady - felt incredibly special.

We started the afternoon capturing a few getting ready moments at her grandmother’s home before spending some time with family and guests. She looked absolutely stunning in her sequenced teal dress.

Afterwards, we made our way to the Drostdy for photographs with her matric farewell partner and cousin, just as the light softened beautifully around us.

Ciara, thank you for trusting me with such a special milestone in your life 🤍

Callum’s first birthday session 🤍

Cake, cuddles, a little bit of chaos… and the sweetest big sister.

She spent the session playing with her little brother, picking him up every time he wandered too far, comforting him when he got a little overwhelmed, and hugging him at the sweetest moments.

Getting to photograph Callum turning one was special enough, but watching the two of them together might just have been my favourite part.

Somewhere in between the cake smash, the laughter, and the little moments in between, we got to managed to get in some family portraits too.

These are the seasons that pass by far too quickly, and yet the moments that end up meaning everything. So grateful that I get to photograph them.

Some people just carry a light about them…
Eutopia is one of them.

Before her matric dance, I met up with her and Stephan out in the Kariega farmlands.

The open fields, the soft mountain backdrop, the beautiful light…
and her royal blue dress with the most stunning gold detail;
it all came together so effortlessly.

Because this was Eutopia’s matric farewell, it felt important to capture not only the moments between her and Stephan,
but also portraits of her on her own - just as she is in this season.

It is, after all, such a meaningful milestone in her life.

Eutopia was such a joy to photograph;
she has an absolutely radiant personality and such a zest for life.

Thank you for trusting me with documenting your matric farewell. I absolutely loved our session.

What an evening this was 🪩🍰💕

A room filled with so much love;
heartfelt speeches that brought tears,
laughter that carried through the space,
and a dance floor that didn’t stay quiet for long.

Jason & Aadilah, thank you for having us as a part of your big day. We loved being there to document it all. Orville, , friend, as always…it was an absolute pleasure working alongside you!

Finally got my vibrant, coffee-loving, absolutely stunning friend behind the lens.

& I are working on a little project together and for this project we needed a few photographs that reflected her personality.

These encapsulates parts of her personality perfectly ♥️

Somewhere in the middle of a wedding day, we get to have a moment like this…

Where the couple steps away from everything,
and it’s just the two of them.

Taking a few moments to enjoy each other’s company;
the subtle glances,
the gentle touches,
and simply being close.

I once heard that photographs are proof that you’ve lived.

There’s just something so special about freezing moments in time through photographing them.

Whether you book a photoshoot with a professional photographer to photograph some of life’s beautiful milestones or you simply capture them on your phone as you experience them, make sure you take photos as often as you can.

One day you’ll look back on these photos…
and maybe even your children’s children will too.

Just imagine the stories they’ll tell…

Aadilah got ready at her mom’s home. She was surrounded by some of her closest girlfriends, there to share in the morning, to step in where needed, and simply to be part of their friend’s, their sister’s, big day.

It was a beautiful morning.
The kind that carries a quiet expectancy; one you feel when you know you’re standing at the beginning of something deeply special.

Aadilah was the calmest of brides.
Even with unexpected shifts in the weather, and a few changes needing to be made, she moved through it all with such peace - present, joyful, and completely at ease.

The details were thoughtfully set out,
soft moments of laughter came and went,
and a gentle kind of excitement lingered in the room.

It was a morning that felt considered,
beautifully held,
and entirely her own.

The kind of beginning that quietly sets the tone for everything that follows.

It’s been graduation week at Nelson Mandela University…

Whoop whoop 🎓

All the years of hard work, leading up to that moment; walking across the stage, hearing your name called, and finally receiving your degree.

After all the formalities, I met up with Jamie and her parents for a post-graduation shoot.

Here are a few sneaks from our session together.
