The ride, the off-camera image and the edit to show what I saw…
For an amazing minute or 4 the Schoenies sky was on fire. The Canon EOS 30D might be old but it can still produce.
I shot this image with an EF-S 24mm lens. In 35mm or FF D-SLR terms that is around 38,4mm perspective. Not terribly wide but nice.
I shot in AV, ISO 200, f/5,6 and a deliberate 1 stop over-exposure to retain some foreground shadow detail. The shutter speed resulted in 1/60 of a second.
I also shot in the default / unmodified Standard profile even though I processed the Raw file here.
Along with straightening the horizon, I only really used two Levels layers to get the sky as close to as what I remember seeing.
