We had the privilege of spending some time at Retreat 2 Eden this weekend and were able to photograph this gorgeous boy who's still looking for his forever home. As a lifelong dog lover, shepherds have an especially big place in my heart after having one as part of our family for many years. They’re so much more than just dogs — they’re loyal, protective, playful, affectionate, and they truly become part of your soul.

Retreat 2 Eden is a special place run by Johann and Lynn, who have dedicated their lives to rescuing and caring for animals in need. Their passion and commitment are truly inspiring, and they do so much with very little.

If you're able to support them in any way — whether it's donating dog food, blankets, or contributing financially — it would mean the world. A little more on Tristan:
"For most of Tristan's life (all roughly 4 years of it), he was treated badly and kept in appalling conditions.

When Tristan came to Retreat 2 Eden he was extremely shut down emotionally and in poor physical condition. He was so fearful that although he wanted closeness with humans, he did not trust. The end result was to want to snap and bite to avoid pain like he was used to.

Johann Wilhelm and Alexandra Munch have extensively worked with Tristan and he has come along in leaps and bounds. So much so that we believe that he would make faster progress in the right home (should it come available.)

So what does the right home for Tristan look like?
Tristan needs confidence building, understanding of his history and challenges that he has overcome as well as gentleness and love.

His person needs to set boundaries for him to prevent him from becoming possessive of them.

Tristan gets on well with other dogs (males and females) and has been fine with small dogs.
Cats unknown,
Young children are not advised.

Tristan will go to the ends of the earth for his person. He truly is an amazing boy.

Tristan is available for adoption from Retreat 2 Eden. He is situated in Port Alfred. Out of area homes will be considered however the future family do need to come and meet him.

My photography journey began more than 10 years ago, but it was probably inspired by a little person who still holds a special place in my heart. Thanks to her parents, I was able to "steal" her whenever inspiration struck, which sparked my love for photography.

Over the years, I encountered several challenges, including burnout, which led me to take a break from photography. However, when Mila reached out to ask me to photograph her matric dance portraits, I realized just how much I had missed capturing these important milestones. Ten days and three shoots later, I find myself sitting behind the same familiar editing programs, and I suddenly feel at home again.

So - took cut out a long story and make it short I am slowly and quietly dipping my toe back into the world of photography and am available for individual portraits, couples and families of less than 8 people over the weekends.

The photographs below include my beautiful little Mila back then as well as images of her now as a stunning young woman with the world at her feet.
