A Flick of the Tail - Tracy Miller
-
"Slowly making our way back to camp on the final game drive of our safari, we encountered a pair of leopards in the last decent light of the day. The mother and her large cub were on the move at quite a pace, stopping now and again to scent mark and scan their surroundings. What a gift when they did this – I managed to get some lovely images of them interacting.
Here, the sinuous curve of the cub’s tail creates a natural frame around its mother's face—a fleeting composition that reveals the complex social bonds that occasionally interrupt a leopard’s mainly solitary life."

Over the moon to have been nominated for the The British Photography Awards in the land animal category! It's one of my rhino images from my series of Fragile Giants.

I spent a week decompressing / relaxing after my incredible 5 week trip to work with wildlife in South Africa. The bags have been unpacked but it will take me a while to unpack mentally and emotionally from all that I experienced there.
In the meantime, here are a couple of images from a wonderful leopard sighting during my final week. The light was golden and we had him all to ourselves for the few minutes that he graced us with his presence

It's been a long time coming but I'm on the final countdown for this amazing adventure working with African wildlife.

Originally planned for 2020, the world shut down and I had to forget about it. Finally booked it just over a year ago and I leave on Thursday for five weeks!
A lot of things have happened in the last few weeks that have made me think I would have to cancel, like I have been fated not to do it, but I'm going and I'm excited and nervous in equal measure!

I spend my first week at a rhino orphanage then onto a wildlife sanctuary then two weeks of research and conservation work at another location. All completely ethical. It was my most important consideration. They're also setting some time aside for me to interview rangers, vets, the anti poaching team and other amazing individuals who dedicate their lives to saving our precious wildlife.

I can't wait!

I've neglected this page somewhat and have promised myself I would post more so here's a nice one to start off with. Happy New Year to me - some of my wildlife images that have been shortlisted for awards have been published in this week's Amateur Photographer Magazine, with an interview / a few words from me. Lovely way to start 2024 ❤️
Huge thanks to Amateur Photographer for the feature

It's hot, dry and very dusty here in the Middle East right now so I've been cooling myself down by blasting the air con and listening to rain and storm apps whilst I process images from my trip last month. Here's one from a favourite location. I thought I'd show you the view as I approach the beach from the dunes rather than actually from the beach for a change. This is my glorious first glimpse of it every time I visit

A few more images from my recent trip to Duddo Stones. It was the perfect day with blue skies, clouds and the rapeseed in full bloom for miles around. Thankful I don't suffer from hayfever!

Eventually made the journey here today. It's only a little further than I usually drive to my favourite beach but it's a very isolated 20 minute walk from the road.
These stones are around 4000 years old.
