Elephant almost fully submerged!

Watch as the elephant swim in transport dam to cool off. Elephants are excellent swimmers and can fully submerge their bodies with only the tip of the trunk sticking out to breathe.

All work and no play...

Even the strongest make time for some relaxing fun. These three sub adult lions were playing and chewing branches for about 30 minutes before doing what lions do best, just "lion" around.

Honeymooners on fire!

We were lucky enough to find these two lions during our two night stay in Kruger national park.
The male and female will separate themselves from the pride while the lioness is receptive and undergo a week of breeding before they return to the pride.

The spoils of the day.

Sitting at sunset dam with birds chirping and the crocodiles sun bathing whilst a herd of elephants cross the road when we realized this small herd of elephant walking down the road towards us. The silence in the vehicle as the herd got closer was nerve wrecking on its own. But the sheer excitement brightened up our day.

Other sightings include a few leopard sightings, lion sightings etc. the rest will follow when the over night safari is concluded on Friday and onwards.

Master of Disguise!

In a world where survival depends on staying unseen, camouflage is one of nature's greatest tools. This juvenile tree agama blends so perfectly into the bark that it can easily be missed by both predator and observer alike.

While the Big Five often steal the spotlight, it's moments like these that remind us that every creature has a story worth telling. The bush is filled with hidden wonders, and sometimes the most remarkable sightings are measured in centimeters rather than meters.

What is the smallest creature you've ever stopped to admire on safari?

Say cheese!

The moment even a lioness smiles for the camera!
Behind this smile is a life lived with a lot of challenges, from hunting to care giving, defending of territory when males are away, caring for the cubs and the list goes on.

From the moment a lioness becomes of age her life changes completely, now she needs to hunt, she needs to keep threats clear while the male is out patrolling the distant corners of his territory or even live a life balanced between the safety of her new born cubs and security of the pride. The latter is probably the most difficult since she will have to hide her cubs from even her own sister for an average of 8 weeks before attempting to introduce them, during this time the threats are endless, from hyena to wild dogs, elephants or even her own pride members.

The animal that defeated physics.

We found this male klip springer sun bathing, and I will not forget the awe in the faces of my clients when I told them at which angles and limited space this amazing antelope can comfortably walk. The hooves are well designed for their habitat they can still walk on a virtual 90° drop with as little as an inch lip for balance.

Ahhhhh, pop pop pop...

Nothing like a back popping stretch on a lazy day! Found this young male lion lazing around a few moments before this good stretch. He then walked off into the thickets to join his family.

The beginning of a good day in the park, marked by a mackerel sky. These clouds are altocumulus and could have changed our day in summer but since it was cool enough today they brought no rain this time.

While on safari all things matter!

We happened to find this hare sitting a few metres off the road watching dwarf mongoose bask in the morning on a cold winters morning.
I personally like to spread my focus on things other than the "big scaries" since KNP has such a good diversity of fauna and flora. Many times our visitors do not know what they are missing until we point it out.
