The anticipation of rain and the fear of wasted water.
If 10mm of rain falls on a 1000-hectare area, that's a 100 million litres of free water. How much of that water is kept on the land, and how much flows off without doing any work?
Then, in the dry months, we pump up ground water to fill the missing gap.
Each year, the droughts get harder, and the floods get faster, yet our annual rainfall averages remain the same ...
