Jorina Kriel Photography

Jorina Kriel Photography In 2007, I took a leap of faith, leaving everything behind to immerse myself in the world of photography at the renowned Cape Town School of Photography .

From a leap of faith in 2007 to a life behind the lens—trained at the Cape Town School of Photography, I capture raw emotion and fleeting moments you’ll treasure forever. Completing comprehensive courses, I had the privilege of learning from and collaborating with incredibly talented creatives, who enriched my skills and perspective. By 2012, my career officially began, marked by notable milestone

s such as being published in Afrikaans magazines like Rooirose & Die Keur showcasing my evolving expertise and creative vision. Additionally, I had the honour of appearing on television, for three memorable appearances on Pasella. Reflecting on this journey, it has been a captivating and enriching experience. Each moment has contributed to my growth as a photographer, allowing me to capture unique stories.

I’ve been quiet on here for a bit, but this shoot felt like the perfect one to return with.

I’ve photographed Pietman Geldenhuys (musician, TV presenter & storyteller) a few times now, and every session brings something new.
This one might be my favourite — relaxed, honest, and full of character.

I’m really proud to have a few of my prints hanging at Soldato Cafe in Langebaan — such a special spot run by two wonderful people, Hugo and Elmien.

The photos are from Namaqualand — taken at Boesmanskop and in the Namaqua Nature Reserve when the flowers were in full bloom. 🌼

I only grabbed a quick phone photo of the display, but you really need to go see it in person — and enjoy a cup of their amazing coffee while you’re there! ☕

If you’d like a print of your own, feel free to contact me — I do commissions and might already have something you’ll love.

A few years ago, my husband and I travelled through Thailand — capturing the bustle of food markets, the calm of golden sunrises and sunsets, and the stillness of turquoise water.

My goal is to capture a place through my photos so others can feel like they’re really there.

If you’re travelling soon and want to capture your own memories beautifully, here are a few simple travel photography tips:

1️⃣ Tell the story.
Don’t just photograph the place — capture how it felt to be there.

2️⃣ Chase the light.
Early morning or sunset light brings warmth and mood to your photos.

3️⃣ Add life to your shots.
Include people, motion, or small details — like a street vendor’s hands or a boat cutting through the water.

4️⃣ Be present.
Capture the photo, but don’t forget to live the moment — the experience itself is just as important as the image.

’n Dekade van stories op die stoep! 📖✨

Since 1997, Lundi and I have shared so many memories — and photographing her beautiful family is one I’ll treasure. ✨ The light was perfect, the love was real, and watching her kids laugh together reminded me why I love what I do. ❤️

✨ A beautiful couple shoot at untether on Olive View –surrounded by the most beautiful scenery. These two were so relaxed in front of the camera, which made it easy to capture natural, genuine moments.

✨ For me, food photography is the meeting point of flavour and art — the beauty of food and the joy of capturing it. These photos aren’t just about dishes — sometimes it’s a single ingredient or a spice.

Every dish tells a story — sometimes bright and airy, other times rich and moody — and I enjoy exploring all those flavours through my lens. Sometimes the story goes beyond the dish — into the people, the atmosphere, and the lifestyle that surrounds it.

Here’s a glimpse of moments from different shoots, each one a little reminder of why I love what I do.

Here’s to good food, good vibes, and an amazing weekend ahead! 🎉🍴📸

It’s not about perfect poses, it’s about genuine connection. 📸 With Mpho, Cliff, and Kganya (who is almost 2 and absolutely adorable), every laugh, cuddle, and little moment was a reminder of how precious this stage of life is. These are the kind of memories you’ll treasure forever.

If you’d like timeless photos that feel natural and true to your family, reach out and let’s plan your session.

From Namaqualand to The Netherlands 🌍🌼

Every spring, the flowers in Namaqualand remind me of home.
Marna, who also grew up there and now lives in the Netherlands, felt the same nostalgia when she saw my photos — and decided on two favourites to take home.

It was a truly special moment signing these prints, knowing they would carry a piece of Namaqualand’s beauty to her home far away.

Sharing the two photographs she selected, along with a little behind-the-scenes glimpse as I prepared them.

Prints are available upon request — please send me a message if you’d like to order your own.
