Everybody knows that starting a business is never an easy thing to do, more
especially if you have no to little knowledge about what you're doing. It is
easy to want to give up along the way but with passion and patience, every
hurdle becomes easy to overcome.
One of the challenges that she faced as an upcoming photographer was that
there were already established photographers in town who knew what they
were doing and had a plan for everything. The only thing she had at the time
was passion for it but no skill, so she made sure to put her all in learning the
skill and knowledge about the photography business.
To add onto her list of problems, when she started her business covid was
still a huge problem in south Africa and a lot of businesses and people were
losing money due to loss of jobs and customers for their businesses. Due to
the covid restrictions put in place at the time, Boitshoko couldn't do a lot
when it came to her photography business, but she continued persevering
despite the odds. Boitshoko used the time that she had to look around for
short courses that taught photography, but financial problems stood in the
way of her getting into those type of programs.
After being disappointed countless times, Boitshoko decided to carefully
study the work of fellow photographers around her community and went as
far as asking them to give her more insight on what she can do differently in
her business. To polish her skills more, she would shoot whatever content it
is and later ask a fellow photographer that she knew on a personal level to
analyze and assess her work so that she can know if she really has the
passion for photography or it is just a hobby.
At the current moment Boitshoko feels as though she has polished her work a
lot more than when she first started her business even though she is still
looking to gain more skills through a short photography course.
