The Heart of the Eastern Cape – Gareth’s Journey to Inspiration in Kei Mouth 🌅
There’s a place in the Eastern Cape that ignited Gareth’s passion like no other – the breathtakingly beautiful Kei Mouth.

It was here, amidst the stunning views and pristine nature, that he discovered a profound source of inspiration and creative fuel, elevating his art to new heights.

From sunrise to sunset, Gareth was drawn to the beach to capture the quiet rhythms of life, finding solace in the serenity of the ocean and the vibrant colors of the sunrises and sunsets.

He was fascinated by the iconic pont, capturing countless images of it faithfully ferrying people and vehicles over to the Transkei, a testament to its enduring importance and a symbol of connection and community.

But the adventure didn't stop at the riverbank. Crossing over himself on the pont was always a highlight, leading him to a stretch of beach rich with photographic treasure: the striking Nguni cattle grazing nearby and the intricate, weather-worn driftwood scattered along the sand, a true marvel of nature that inspired a sense of awe and wonder.

To truly start his day in peace and tranquility, he would stand at the lookout point, overlooking the vast ocean as the sun began its ascent, filling his heart with peace and a sense of possibility.

The immense beauty of that moment set the tone for all his art, inspiring him to capture the essence of Kei Mouth and share its beauty with the world.

December brought a different kind of energy, which he loved to observe – the cheerful hustle and bustle on the beach, watching speedboats heading out for fishing expeditions, horseback rides, a time of excitement and celebration that brought people together.

Kei Mouth wasn't just a location; it was a feeling, a sanctuary of natural beauty that fueled his passion for photography and inspired his soul to soar.

These images are a tribute to the peaceful mornings and vibrant afternoons he cherished in this stunning corner of South Africa, a celebration of the beauty and wonder that awaits us all.

We hope his work transports you there, too. 🌊

Following up on our recent update, we've been deeply inspired by the response to Gareth's work and we're grateful for all the support as we continue to celebrate his extraordinary artistic legacy.

We wanted to offer a quick reminder that you can now explore the new pieces we recently added to his collection on the Pixalot website. These carefully curated works reflect Gareth's unique vision for nature and people, just as he would have wanted them shared.

In addition to his legacy, we are sharing some very personal works inspired by Double Mouth Nature Reserve, a place that held a special place in Gareth's heart. From a young age, our family visited Double Mouth, walking the beaches, swimming in the river, and discovering interesting driftwood, shells, carnelian beads, and Ming porcelain.

Gareth continued his love of Double Mouth throughout his life, tracking the spoor of the Cape clawless otter and blue duiker.

He enjoyed taking photographs of the sprawling hillsides and their beautiful aloes, exploring the rock pools, and looking for interesting driftwood to capture with his lens.

The featured photographs accompanying this post are some of his breathtaking work from the reserve.

As December draws near, memories of him and others searching for shells and Ming, and swimming in the reserve's river, were the inspiration for posting this special Double Mouth collection.

These specific pieces are available to order directly from Rebecca via email at [email protected] or by sending a direct message at 076 115 0535.

They would then be sent onto Pixalot for Printing.

Thank you again for helping keep his spirit and passion for photography alive.

With love, Rebecca Yearsley,
Gareth's sister and curator of his legacy.

With love and heavy hearts, we want to provide an update regarding Gareth's beautiful work and the future of his artistic legacy.

As many of you know, Gareth had a passion for photography and digital art that touched so many of us and captured his love of nature and people.

To honour his memory and share his incredible talent with the world, some of his existing and newly curated photography is available for purchase as prints through Pixalot.co.za.

Gareth entrusted the license to his work to me, his sister, in his will, and asked that I continue to share his work with others if they were interested.

I am committed to continuing to share the beauty he created with all of you.

We have just added new pieces to his profile on the Pixalot site, which he chose as his preferred partner in printing, framing, and delivering his work due to their professionalism and high-quality finished product.

For those who have appreciated and ordered his work in the past, or anyone looking for a meaningful addition to their home, we hope you will find something that speaks to you.

Pixalot is currently running Black Friday specials, making it a wonderful time to acquire a piece of Gareth's legacy.
You can browse the collection and place orders directly on his dedicated page on the Pixalot website.

Thank you for your continued support and for helping us keep Gareth's artistic spirit alive.
Your memories and appreciation of his work mean the world to us.

This laid-back young bull was recently photographed on the beach at the Great Kei river mouth. I've printed it on canvas and am waiting for it to be framed (100x60cm excl. mount board and frame). I'll have it on display at the Christmas and Holiday Markets at Yellowwood Forest and the Morgan Bay Hotel in Dec/Jan.
