Sometimes when an opportunity drops into your lap, you have to give thanks and grab it with both hands. I've recently found myself in a position to offer my services to the Democratic Alliance, a party very close to my heart. So I can contribute in my own way to the betterment of South Africa, while also capturing moments, which is another thing that I love.
The cherry on the top is that I get to help people have a voice; help them tell a bit of their story; help them express their hopes for the future.
This is Popi Tshabalala whom I had the opportunity to chat to recently. Popi laughed when I asked her if she votes for the ANC. She truly seemed amazed that anybody would consider doing something like that. She shook her head, laughed in amusement and declared that she votes for the DA.
She was very interested to find out that the public transport system in the Cape is so much better. One of her daily challenges is getting to work and back home safely. So we had a bit of a discussion on the DA's plans for improving public transport in Johannesburg.
Think about it. This is something she is challenged with every day. And she probably didn't know with whom she could even discuss these frustrations, in order to improve the situation.
Popi was delighted with this image on screen, and I can't wait to see her face when she receives a printed copy.
