To be an artist is the most rewarding and scary journey one can take in life.

You put your faith totally in God’s hand. I have come to the realization that if God has trusted me enough to give me the talent, then all I can do is to trust Him to develop and share my talent with others and to serve them through my art.

I tell you it is not always a smooth path.
Creativity requires you to surrender - to become vulnerable as you put a part of yourself into your art work.

Monday I almost quit on my art work. Everything were just too much for me to handle. I couldn’t draw at all during my art classes. Not because of the lack of talent, but the lack of believing in myself and comparing myself with others and listen to their comments about my art. During the past weeks - Some laughed at my art work, others told me it looked good.

I had to dug deep into myself & moved again out of my head into my heart. This morning I had the desire again to continue with my LET GO art work, and learnt my own lesson of letting go in the process.

Whatever you ate going through now, I pray that you will also learn of what to let go off, in order for you to move on and to be blessed in your life.

Good day, everyone! This piece is being created entirely with graphite, and every stage of the process keeps reminding me why I fell in love with art in the first place.

If it is not enough working on an elephant, I’ve decided to start another new drawing. This one has a deeper meaning and believe that other people would be able to relate to this image. I have title it “Let Go”.
This is part of my Scared Reflection series of my artwork.

The past week I’ve spent some time with my overseas family and it was so lovely to see everybody again and making new memories.

This week I proudly handed over my latest Kudu drawing to its brand new delighted owner.

The last few months were quite an emotional journey for me. Since I broke my ankle, my whole life made a 180 degree turn.

I lost a lot of things which were valuable to me at that time…. My income, my savings, my home, my car not working, my soul companion Jack (my jack russel) and my identity and purpose.

I’ve tried to search for answers and solutions outside myself and God…..

Society wants to put us into boxes that we normally don’t fit in. If you have dyslexia or ADHD or mental or physical health problems, the world view you as BROKEN or not fit to fit into society…. But just because we don’t fit into society’s boxes, doesn’t mean we are BROKEN.

But this morning the penny finally dropped for me and I had to learn it from the Holy Spirit and MR TIME:

I found me and my purpose when I finally stopped projecting the search for permission on to others - for something only I could give myself.

I GIVE MYSELF PERMISSION TO BE AN ARTIST.

I pray that you give yourself permission to be yourself and stop searching it from family, friends and society.

Live your life fully 💕

I’m looking forward to learn new skills with Pieter van der Merwe Art and in the process to create new art with the Holy Spirit and share the journey with you in my new series.
