A Burning Sunrise.
______________________________________________
Back in 2014 I was able to capture a shot similar to this, with rays of sunlight coming through the heart of a Robo-Bunnyfied San Clan during sunset. This shot, however, was captured during sunrise on the final morning of my Afrikaburn 2017 experience.
Having awoken 2 hours later than expected (and after setting alarms for 04h00 ~ it's the Burn, so somethimes things just don't necessarrily work out as planned, haha) I headed on over to 's camp, woke her up, got some coffee and we embarked upon our final journeys to witness what was left of the 05h00 sunrise burning of Yggdrasil, Tree of Life: A gigantic installation that had a wide inner-edge spiralling staircase that bare within its centre, a 1:1 replica of a Boabab Tree seed. Something that must have taken hundreds of labor-intense hours to complete.
As the embers of Yggdrasil sat burning, I turned around to explore the surrounding area and found the sun sitting right in the middle of the San Clan, just as it once did three years ago.
Great way to sign off a brilliant, yet different burning experience.
