This right here…this is my heart.
I think people sometimes assume that because I’m a photographer, my own children must be perfect in front of the camera.
The truth?…They aren’t 😅😅😅
Yes, they’re used to cameras. Yes, they’ve spent most of their lives with one pointed in their direction. But that doesn’t mean they always smile, sit still, or cooperate.
There have been sessions where I’ve gone home feeling defeated because I could get beautiful photos of my clients’ children, but not my own.
And honestly? That’s exactly why my sessions are child-led.
Children aren’t meant to stand perfectly still and smile on command. They’re meant to explore, laugh, cuddle, run, play, and simply be themselves. That’s where the magic lives.
I encourage parents to play games, tell silly jokes, hand out the occasional sweet, and sometimes promise a milkshake afterwards. Because I never want a child to leave a session feeling stressed or pressured. I want them to leave feeling like they had fun.
The smiles that come from joy will always be more meaningful than the smiles that come from being told to “say cheese.” (although this line still gives some great smiles sometimes!).
Looking through these photos fills my heart with gratitude. Not because everything went perfectly, but because they are mine. These guys support every crazy idea, every early morning, every late-night edit, and every dream I chase.
Thank you for always being willing to come along for the ride. For standing next to me sometimes helping me make the kids laugh, and just for all of your love and support 🤍
And a special thank you to from for stepping behind the camera for us, for capturing these memories so beautifully, and for being my behind-the-scenes girl through it all. What started as a client relationship has grown into such a special friendship, and I’m incredibly grateful for you.
These photos will forever be some of my favourites…not because they’re perfect, but because they’re us.
And that’s more than enough. 🤍
