What’s a cache? How do I delete cookies? I’d rather eat them. NTFS or NFTs? Hard drive isn’t reading. Loading wheel after loading wheel. Spinning to poke all my buttons. Media offline. Incognito browser tab to bypass the noise and download the files? I fight with Ai agents to speak to a real human . It ends the chat with me before I’m done speaking at it with all caps. Fair play, know your boundaries. The call agent (probably in India) had a chuckle when I got through and told him my woes. I figured it out in the end. Just wanted someone to talk to. Look at all the words I’ve learned.

My soul doesn’t sync with technology and my brain doesn’t retain what I learn. I’m slow and feel stupid. Don’t ask me what my camera settings are, I don’t know either.

I’ve been so busy with side hustles I’ve neglected my page. Which drops my reach and ability to advertise. Don’t want to pay for the blue badge. I just might have to. Missing the old instagram. I’ve been quiet, but want to be louder. I’m not a machine that can produce and post daily. Nor will I subscribe to the requirement to be featured in an algorithm. That’s not … art

I just want to pick flowers and take photos with friends. It feels so hard in the big 2026.

I was lucky enough to be invited by Wits Donald Gordon Centre to take pictures of the first liver perfusion machine on the whole continent. My photos were featured alongside the wonderful article News24 by Justine Lebaka.

This machine’s job is to preserve and resuscitate donor livers before transplantation. Keeping them functioning and improving outside the body by pumping oxygenated blood and preservation fluid all while keeping it cool.

This allows surgical teams flexibility to prepare and schedule surgeries rather than working through nights and going unrested in order to transplant an organ.

Drs Bobat, Loveland and Rambarran spoke to us about how important this machine is to their program and the feasibility of organs. Bobat explained that the machine allows a liver to recover to a point where they would be able to split it between a paediatric and adult patient, saving two lives at once.

As expensive as the machine is (R2.7 million) Dr Loveland made mention that “if you transplant just one child who would have otherwise have died, and that child goes on to be educated, work and contribute to society, the value becomes immeasurable”

South Africa has one of the lowest organ donor rates in the world which has forced transplant teams to become innovative, having to accept and work with high risk organs. This machine will help immensely in such cases.

Hearing from Winston Baatjies, an actual recipient of a donor liver, left a huge impact. Without the donor organ he would not have been able to see his son graduate or represent his country.

The message of the day was clear that there is a massive shortage of donors and they encourage all citizens to look into become one.

Donald Gordon Medical Centre’s transplant unit has grown to become the leading solid organ transplant program in the country, recognised for its expertise in liver and kidney transplants. (dgmc.co.za)

“Each puncture becomes thought; each stitch, a refusal to stay quiet. The grotesque becomes a form of wit, and repair turns to rebellion.”

The paradox of a needle, used to mend and scar in acts of preservation and permanence. The artists and their human canvases became a part of .t Taute’s exhibition Mother. Monster, Stitch.

Three disciplines in art came together for one night , intergrating in a canvas adaptation where the audience becomes an active participant and their experience made permanent with the adapted flash pieces. Visitors stood to watch the process of tattoo work while the inspiration for each piece looked down upon them.
