Recently, while getting my visa for my trip to Italy, I had the pleasure of being assisted by the loveliest lady — and I noticed she was pregnant!

As a little thank you for all her help, I offered her a complimentary maternity shoot. 🤍 It was such a special opportunity to capture this beautiful season of her life, and an added bonus for me was getting some fresh content for my page!

As photographers, we’re always looking for content to share, but the reality is that not every client is comfortable with their images being posted online — which is completely understandable. So when an opportunity comes along where everyone wins, I’m taking it! 📸✨

Now, onto my little photographer SOS… 😂

PS: My Lightroom has been doing the strangest thing lately and making certain parts of my images look pixelated. If anyone has any tips on what could be causing this or how to fix it, PLEASE message me! 🥲

Today, we celebrate the art, craft, science and history of photography - and the incredible ability we have to freeze a moment in time and turn it into a memory.

August 19th marks the day in 1839 when the French government purchased the patent for the Daguerreotype process and declared it a free gift to the world, helping make photography accessible to people everywhere.

From the very first permanent images on metal plates to the thousands of photographs we capture every day, photography has come a very long way. And I feel so lucky to be part of an industry that allows me to tell stories, preserve memories and see the world through a different lens. 💕✨

Meet Shannon, one of the talented junior photographers who calls Studio Alora home. 🤍

Photography has been part of Shannon’s life since she was 16, when she received her very first DSLR. Although she originally studied Culinary Arts, photographing dishes for her portfolio sparked a passion that led her to pursue photography full-time.

Based in Johannesburg, Shannon specialises in capturing genuine moments and believes the best photographs are the ones that tell your story for years to come.

When she’s not behind the camera, you’ll find her reading, spending time in nature, spoiling animals, or getting lost in the worlds of Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones.

Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph professional headshots for one of my neighbours. It was such a pleasure not only capturing these images for her, but also getting to know her a little better along the way.
