Hi All,

Anne-Marie and I have just returned from an exceptional 2 week excursion to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park where we encountered thunderstorms, driving rain and an environment bristling with wildlife.

We were fortunate to enjoy numerous Lion, Cheetah and Leopard sightings (including a Leopard with two cubs). Rainfall was exceptional with 60mm recordered at Twee Rivieren and 50mm at Nossob and Mata Mata. As a result of the rainfall the vegetation is abundant with grass covered dunes attracting herds of Springbok, Blue Wilderbeest, Gemsbok and Red Hartebeest. Vast areas of the veldt, river beds and roads resemble small lakes. The summer rains have been overwhelming with Nossob recording 109mm in one day in early November 2025.

We encountered coalitions of 4 and 5 Cheetah as well as solitary individuals. We witnessed a coalition of 5 Cheetah on a Wilderbeest calf kill and numerous Raptors bathing in pools of water. This is certainly an enchanted wilderness and probably one of our finest nature excursions.

The Park is under new management and there is an air of determined optimism with all staff courteous and efficient, the roads are well kept and graded continuously after the intermittent rain. The picnic and ablution areas are cleaned daily with the workers courteous and attentive.
