A Brutalist Waterkloof Wonder!

Earlier this year and I embarked on a journey of a lifetime. We were invited to shoot this incredible brutalist gem hidden away in Waterkloof, Pretoria.

Designed by architect, Petrus Paulus (Piet) van den Berg in the late 1960s, the house is a testament to brutalist architecture.

Meticulously maintained, it has Built-in kartell kitchen units, indoor fish ponds, a spiralling staircase within a jungle atrium and; an indoor squash court! These are only a few of the highlights from this magical property.

Having an open love affair with brutalism this was every architectural photographer’s dream and I am so proud to say I got a chance to shoot it, let alone step foot within its profound and impactful walls.

Thanks for featuring it in issue 137. And thank you Graham Wood for capturing the essence of this space so beautifully in words to accompany my photographs.
