I shoot couples, maternity, family & personal branding sessions at a beautiful natural light studio in Parktown North.

When .daniels casually snaps a photograph of you (thank you dear Shann!), you change your profile photo for errreeethang... And in the spirit of feeling far fancier than I actually am, I thought this would be a good opportunity to share a few tidbits about me, so that if you book a photoshoot with me, or just see me in woolies, we'll be better acquainted:

1. Family is EVERYTHING to me!
2. So is coffee. And nut butter. And hummus. Not together, obvs. Eeeuuwww!
3. I've been married to my sweetheart for 13 years, and he is still my favorite person in the whole world 🤍
4. I can't parallel park, or reverse park. Or actually park in any way, unless I'm turning in from the right. Which means I spend alot of my life circling parking lots like a vulture.
5. I am super introverted and some days I'd rather jump out of an aeroplane than answer a phone call. OK, not really. But if you call, and it rings endlessly, just know that I'm considering my options.
6. I am part of the amazing team. And it's probably one of the things I'm most proud of. This all-girl team is all things inspiring and uplifting 🥰
7. I love playing with negative space in photographs. It's not 100% what we're taught, but it's what sets my creativity on fire.
8. I'm obsessed with black and white images, and I'll probably sneak far more than is considered acceptable into your gallery 😇
9. If you see me, and I don't have my glasses on, chances are, I didn't see you.
10. Social media is NOT my thing. I never seem to find my groove- and I think this comes down to that super silly feeling of inadequacy that I know many creatives feel in this space. But I'm a keep trying 🙌 and maybe one day, I'll stop posting, ghosting & tearing this joint down (terrible habits, I know) 🤣

I'm not sure what it is about these frames that make me so happy?

It hasn't felt right posting. Like most South Africans, I am feeling so much. My head has been everywhere and nowhere and my heart a constant bundle of anxiety, fear and weariness. For us. For our country.

But, after a beautiful shoot bright & early this morning I was reminded of what sets my soul on fire. And that is, family. Whether it's my own, or capturing another's

So, here's my little boy & his sidekick🤍

As these two chase each other over couches and under beds, on repeat each day, I can't help but marvel at the valuable life lessons our pup is teaching his little friend; like trust, compassion and of course, how to have good ol fashion fun!

Anyone else's kids turn into complete silly buggers when you ask to take photographs of them?

But, they're the sweetest, silly buggers I ever did see. And, they really do love each other this much. 80% of the time. Which makes me love them even more - if that were possible...

I can't remember what we were chit-chatting about. It may have been about baby hippos & how cute they are - a daily topic covered in depth by her and I. All I remember was how mesmerized I was by the way the light and shadows from our bedroom blinds danced around her, painting her exactly as I have seen her from the day she was born; an absolute light 🤍

Still a full day behind. Don't ask. But loving how this challenge has encouraged me to pick up my camera and find little pockets of magic in our stock-standard days. It is after all, why I fell in love with photography in the first place 🌿

10/10 recommend starting your day with a dance party in your un**es 🤍

A day late to the again. And, this time I can't even blame the kids. I really struggle with wide-angle shots. I'm a tight, right-up-in-your-face, kind of shooter. Wider shots bring out the nit-picker in me as I sit pointing out a 1000 little things I'd want to remove & change. Like my bedroom lamps, and the black window frames behind the white blinds in this shot. Even the picture frames have me wondering if they should rather be replaced. But, I digress.

After taking hundreds of shots yesterday, and feeling meh about them all, I was fully prepared to dig through my archive to find a decent-enough wide-angle shot to feature. But, then my littlelest decided to have a dance party on our bed this morning, and I mean, how could I not?

And, I have to say, as much as I love capturing his sparkly eyes up close, I'm pretty glad I got this shot; to remember his dinosaur un**es, his four-year-old little body and how even from afar, his absolute zest for life just stands out ✨

Home is; sticky fingers, smiley eyes and tummy laughs. A tornado of tears, tantrums and toys. Three meals and 27 snacks per day. A millions why's and even more no's. Grace, warmth and love. So much love.

Home is these two. Keepers of my heart, always 🤍
