What a day out on the trails yesterday at the Merrell Autumn Run 2026 🌧️
Hosted by Mountain Runner Events at the always-beautiful Kings Kloof Trails, this year’s race brought runners through one of Gauteng’s most scenic trail venues, with 6km, 12km and 21km route options on offer.
And wow… the weather definitely made sure everyone earned it.
After all the rain in the days leading up to the event, and with more rain falling again on race morning as Gauteng was hit by widespread showers and thundershowers, the trails were properly transformed. Waterlogged sections, slick rocks, muddy climbs, slippery descents… Kings Kloof was looking wild, raw and absolutely alive.
But if there’s one thing trail runners know how to do, it’s show up.
Despite the wet weather and challenging conditions, the runners came out in force and tackled the course with grit, good humour and serious commitment. So much respect for every single person who stood on that start line in the rain and chose to take on the mud, the climbs and the uncertainty that comes with a proper wet trail day. That’s the kind of commitment that makes this sport so special.
From focused race faces to soaked shoes, muddy calves and big finish-line smiles, yesterday was a reminder that some of the best race days are the messy ones.
Huge shoutout to Mountain Runner Events for another solid event, and to all the runners who embraced the conditions and made the most of an unforgettable morning at Kings Kloof Trails..
